Our Team

Dr Nirmal Grewal MBBS, owns the clinic. He works between his three practices and the emergency department of hospitals. His special interests include rural and remote medicine, emergency medicine, occupational and men’s health. He also enjoys travel and watching the cricket or the footy.

Dr Pavi Pathi MBBS, AMC gained experience in Sydney and previously in Sri Lanka before joining Penola Doctors in July 2016 as a full time permanent GP. Dr Pavi’s special interests are women’s health, contraception advice, implanon insertion and removal, menopause-related health issues, paediatrics and chronic disease management. Dr Pavi enjoys living in the country and a rural lifestyle. She also enjoys nature walks, camping, road trips and travelling.

Janet Wenham is our Head Practice Nurse. She is a local to Penola, having lived here for most of her life. She has many years’ experience in general, community and practice nursing, as well as midwifery. She has a strong focus in providing high quality patient care and also has an interest in women’s and children’s health.

Nicole Wenham is one of our registered nurses. She is a local girl who relocated back to the area after spending a few years general nursing at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She has a strong interest in preventative health care, including childhood and travel vaccinations.

Alex Lambert is one of our registered nurses who works part time with skills in vaccinations, pathology, minor procedures, pre-employment medicals and care plans. She has many years’ experience also working with Country Health SA and has a strong interest in preventative care and sports injuries.

Mel Catlin is our Head Receptionist and has previously worked in a role similar to this in the country South East of South Australia. She brings much experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the practice and has a strong focus on team work.

Leigh Armstrong works in reception and is an important part of our team, having worked at the practice for many years.  She comes with many years of experience and has a strong focus on patient care.

Kate Fitzpatrick works in reception and has been a valuable addition to our team.  She is currently studying a bachelor of nursing and is also accredited in our phlebotomy role within our practice to take bloods.

Darragh Whelan is our assistant Practice Manager and has been working for the company since 2013. Her favourite thing about her role is supporting her wonderful team, problem solving, organisation and implementing new processes and procedures.

Sophie Angus LLB BCom (with Hons) assists Dr Grewal with the business aspects of the practice. She enjoys travelling, eating out and spending time with her family and friends.
